News Negotiation on KIC wage issue to begin next week: MOUN.Korea accepted negotiation proposal from South, S.Korean companies appear flexible on wage issue
The Inter-Korean joint commission on the Kaesong Industrial Complex (KIC) will be held next Thursday in Kaesong, after one a year hiatus, to discuss a comprehensive agenda including the issue of minimum wages at the complex. The Ministry of Unification (MOU) announced North Korea accepted the negotiation proposal on Thursday, so the sixth official talks between South and North regarding the KIC will go ahead. In February, the DPRK notified the South Korean government of minimum wage increases increase minimum of 5.18 percent, from $70.35 to $74 per month.
