Seoul seeks world community’s help to free detainees in N. Korea

Unification Ministry says bilateral, multilateral diplomatic measures pursued to free four prisoners, declines to add specifics

The South Korean government said that they will be seeking diplomatic cooperation with the international community in order to obtain the release and repatriation of its four citizens currently detained in the North.

During a daily briefing on Wednesday, Ministry of Unification spokesperson Im Byeong-cheol told reporters that a variety of measures were being employed to obtain the early release of the detainees, including at the bilateral level with North Korea and at the international level.
