A high-ranking representative in the South Korean National Assembly on Tuesday proposed a joint resolution with U.S. Congress, on the peaceful unification of the Korean Peninsula and close ties between the U.S. and South Korea in order to solve North Korean nuclear issue.

Na Kyoung-won, head of the Committee of Foreign Affairs and Unification yesterday suggested the resolution and 23 lawmakers of the ruling Saenuri Party signed on to it.
