North Korea has notified South Korea via fax on Monday that it will return two ROK nationals currently held in the country, the Ministry of Unification (MoU).

The 59-year-old male and a 51-year-old female are alleged by North Korea to have made an illegal crossing along the Chinese border, with the Associated Press reporting that the pair were arrested May 11.

“The government plans to check their health conditions and identify why they entered the North …” South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency quoted the MoU as saying, adding that they will be returned on Wednesday at Panmunjom, which lies in the Demilitarized Zone
