A new report by Harvard University’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs provides recommendations for U.S. policymakers to pressure the North Korean government into changing from within via targeted information campaigns.

The report entitled “Hack and Frack North Korea: How Information Campaigns Ccan Liberate the Hermit Kingdom,” authored by Belfer Center research fellow Jieun Baek, suggests a three-pronged strategy for the U.S. government.

These are 1) to strengthen covert operations on North Korea’s information channels, 2) increase funding for external media organizations transferring information into the country and 3) an expansion of training for North Korean defectors in journalism,
