Taiwanese businessman gets 2 years for violating N.Korea sanctions

24-month sentence follows 2014 guilty plea over conspiring violate U.S. proliferation laws

A Taiwanese businessman has been sentenced to 24 months in prison for “conspiring to violate U.S. laws preventing proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)," a Department of Justice statement said on Monday.

In October 2014, Hsien Tai Tsai, also known as Alex Tsai, plead guilty to involvement in commercial and financial transactions that circumvented U.S. efforts to limit proliferation activity, specifically with North Korean entities.
