Did a conservative South Korean daily’s editorial line take a brief but stark turn to the left after the 1950 North Korean invasion?

A recently unearthed paper from June 1950 seems to suggest it did, but there is reason to doubt its authorship.

The paper, printed under the name Chosun Ilboand dated June 28 of that year – three days after the North invaded – was revealed by South Korea’s MediaToday on Thursday. Though the paper is known today as a stalwart conservative, anti-communist voice, this edition leads with praise for the “Korean People’s Army’s triumphal entry to Seoul.”
