The proposed high-level talks between North and South Korea did not materialize Tuesday, after Pyongyang failed to respond by the suggested deadline.

The South’s Ministry Of Unification (MOU) proposed the high-level meetings at Panmunjom to discuss inter-Korean exchanges and topics of mutual interest, including the renewal of family reunions for those separated by the Korean War.

The meeting would have been the second high-level North-South exchange during President Park Geun Hye’s tenure, who again reiterated her focus on bolstering inter-Korean cooperation during a cabinet meeting on Tuesday.
