Rights Council envoys blast N. Korea’s prison camps, caste system

North Korea urged to dismantle prison camps by UN Human Rights Council

North Korea faced criticism from Western nations at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Thursday, where it was urged to dismantle its prison camp system.

The council examines the records of each UN member nation every four years. Thursday’s statements came nearly three months after the UN Commission of Inquiry on Human Rights in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea published its reports detailing widespread human rights violations.
