North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has reportedly provided about $2 million to Chongryon, the pro-Pyongyang federation of Korean residents in Japan.

Voice of Russia (VOR) reported on Sunday that Chongryon received about $2 million from Kim, with the money to be used for educating children in Japan who have North Korean citizenship.

It would be the 160th time for Chongryon to receive funds from Pyongyang for educational purposes, and the North Korean government has provided almost $500 billion to Chongryon since the organization was established in 1955, VOR added.
