Data shows Brazilian exports to North Korea soared in 2013

Massive increase occurs as Pyongyang shifts purchasing practices

Exports from Brazil to North Korean saw a 446 percent increase in the first nine months of 2013 compared to the same time period in 2012, according to data released by the Brazilian Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The figures marked a jump in Brazilian exports to $13.4 million from only $2.4 million during the same January-September period in 2012. Throughout the whole of 2013, Brazil exported $16 million to the DPRK and imported $69 million worth of goods.
