Universiade weightlifting may be coming to Pyongyang

South Korean host city pushes for Pyongyang participation, gets good feedback

The 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade may host its weightlifting competition in Pyongyang, the South Korean broadcaster SBS reported on Monday.

Kang Woon-tae, mayor of Gwangju, South Korea, told reporters at the press conference in the Kim Dae-jung Convention Center that the city has sent an official letter to the organizing committee of the Universiade and the Korean University Sports Board, suggesting that the weightlifting games take place in Pyongyang.
