The UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) spent about $1 million (£598,640) on the British embassy in Pyongyang and related North Korea projects in fiscal year 2013/2014, the Washington D.C. based Voice of America (VOA) reported on Thursday.

VOA’s report was based on comments made by Hugo Swire, the FCO’s Minister of State, to the UK Parliament on February 24.

Swire said that about $360,000 was spent on running and maintaining the Pyongyang embassy itself, with the rest of the budget spent on other projects related to North Korea.
