International Olympic Committee suspends assistance to N. Korea

Money to help further expansion of sports in DPRK

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has suspended financial assistance to North Korean athletes as a result of their failure to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics, the Washington D.C. based Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported on Monday.

An official at the IOC told RFA that the Olympic body provided financial support to three North Korean athletes from November 2011 to the end of 2013, but suspended assistance after none of the athletes qualified for the 2014 Winter Olympics.
