Local Chinese auto manufacturerer Hawtai Lu Sheng (華泰) held a ceremony on Wednesday to handover 300 new taxis to North Korea, Yonhap News reported.

A statement published on Chinese website Autohom (汽車之家) said that a North Korean official attended the hand-over event, which took place in Neimenggu, China.

The taxis North Korea purchased are a modified version of Hawtai Lu Sheng’s (路盛) E70, which cost approximately $11400 ~ 14251 per unit in China.

Hawtai Lu Sheng made a contract to provide North Korea with 1,000 new vehicles in August 2012 when it participated in the Rason international trade fair, Yonhap said.
