North Korea is poised to connect its network of domestic websites to the global internet in October 2014, Kim Heung-gwang, a head of North Korea Intellectuals Solidarity, said in a November report.

His comment came after a meeting in China with a North Korean worker at the 6.26 Technical Support Center (기술봉사소), a North Korean cyber company.

Kim cautioned that even though North Korea’s intranet would be connected to overseas nations, normal citizens would still be unable to connect to other countries’ websites.
