LONDON – North and South Korean negotiators have reached a five point agreement to reopen the Kaesong industrial park, the South Korean government announced on Wednesday.

The deal was reached after day-long negotiations to re-open the park, which was shut down amid heightened inter-Korean tensions in April.

“The agreement was signed by Kim Ki-woong, Seoul’s chief delegate and his North Korean counterpart Park Chol-su,“ a Ministry of Unification official told Yonhap News.

Full details of the agreement are yet to be revealed, but Yonhapsaid that it “is believed to include safeguards to prevent another shutdown of the factory park,”
