SEOUL – The Gwangju International Film Festival organizing committee’s decision to play North Korean movies at this year’s event in August has caused controversy in Korea.
According to the organizing committee, this year’s event, kicking off August 29 and lasting five days, will feature the North Korean movies The Flower Girl (1972) and The Other Side of Mountain (2012). The screening of the two films must first be approved by the South’s Ministry of Unification.
