SEOUL – South Korea on Monday reiterated its demand for safeguards at the Kaesong industrial park during talks with the North aimed at restarting the inter-Korean project.

The South insisted on such safeguards, both legal and administrative, for the purpose of protecting South Korean assets and staff within the complex.

They also again called for the business activities in Kaesong that meet international standards which would make it more difficult for closures such as April’s.

The North said at the meeting that operations at Kaesong should resume as soon as possible.
