SAN FRANCISCO – Events to celebrate May Day, the work of agricultural laborers and foreign news dominated the output of North Korean TV’s evening news program in the week from April 29 to May 5. In contrast to recent weeks, military-related events and news were barely mentioned.

1) May Day events

The May Day news bulletin led with an almost 10-minute long  report on the activities of top officials. As it was May Day, the visits were to industrial sites. This contrasts the military-centered events of the KPA anniversary a week earlier.
