South Korean President Lee Jae-myung is set to visit the Oval Office for his first summit with U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday, a meeting that could set the template for how the allies plan to counter North Korea in the coming years and even open the door to reviving nuclear talks.

In recent months, Pyongyang has repeatedly denounced the new ROK leader’s efforts to improve inter-Korean ties, even as it has broached the possibility of engaging the U.S. if it recognizes the DPRK as a nuclear state.
