Togo delists, then re-registers, North Korea-linked ship
Despite deletions, some ships continue to sail under the African nation's colors
The Togolese shipping registry may have deleted then re-registered a North Korean ship, NK Pro analysis shows, while several others deletions still appear to be sailing under the country’s colors.
Some countries allow foreign-owned companies to purchase vessel registration and certification services – a practice which, while not illegal, is a practice North Korea has long used to hide its links to certain ships.
Togo published a list of 36 vessels it had struck from its register in April, also telling the UN in its first and only sanctions implementation report that around 20 of the deletions
