North Korea marked the 65th anniversary of its Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance with China this week. State media reported on Premier Pak Thae Song’s visit to Beijing and his meeting with President Xi Jinping, while a delegation led by senior Chinese political officer Wang Huning visited Pyongyang and met leader Kim Jong Un. The leaders, building on their June summit, exchanged letters to mark the occasion and pointed to a recovery of ties that have cooled in recent years.
