North Korea has made rapid progress on construction of a large new monument and cemetery for soldiers killed fighting in Russia’s war against Ukraine, according to NK Pro analysis of satellite imagery, possibly revealing a higher official death count than previously suggested.

Maxar imagery taken on Dec. 2 shows that external construction has largely finished on the main building of the “Memorial Museum of Combat Feats at the Overseas Military Operations.” Work also appears to be advancing on installing gravestones.

The image suggests there are 13 rows, each with at least 24 gravestones, more than the 12 rows
