Detained Chong Chon Gang sets sail

North Korean vessel sails North, listing destination as Havana

The North Korean vessel detained last since last year in Panama for smuggling military materials through the Panama Canal has begun moving again, with its destination listed as Havana.

The Panamanian authorities announced last week that the ship and most of the crew were free to go, after receiving payment of nearly $700,000. The ship subsequently left its position in Limon Bay on the Atlantic side of the Canal on Saturday, announcing its departure at 2.26 pm.
