Japan cites N.Korean threat for deployment of U.S. jets

Pyongyang's fourth nuclear test has solidified Washington-Tokyo alliance, expert says

The U.S. Armed Forces have deployed 26 stealth jets, including F-22s and F-16s, to Yokota Air Base in Tokyo, with Japan citing North Korea's recent nuclear test as part of the rationale.

The spokesperson of the U.S. Armed Forces allegedly stated deployment was an exercise to "promote stability in Asia-Pacific region and accomplish the duty of protecting Japan," NHK reported.
