Opposition lawmakers in South Korea’s National Assembly are pushing for an end to the South’s sanctions on North Korea, sources have told the Yonhap News Agency.
South Korea under former President Lee Myung-bak cut off virtually all trade in the spring of 2010 with the so-called May 24 sanctions. The action took place after a multi-nation probe concluded that the North was behind the sinking of the Cheonan vessel earlier that year, killing 46 South Korean sailors.
