The president of North Korea’s state-owned newspaper the Rodong Sinmun has been replaced only a year after a predecessor was appointed.

Last Thursday the Rodong’s Editorial Board named Ri Yong Sik as the newspaper’s current Editor-In-Chief, traditionally also the newspaper’s Presidential post-holder.

It was the first time Ri was described as the Editor-In-Chief by the state newspaper, suggesting a new arrival and potential change of the newspaper’s president.

There is little information about Ri, but North Korea’s state media Korea Central News Agency (KCNA) mentioned his name several times as a Vice-Department Director in the Choson Rodongdang (Workers’ Party of
