US State Department condemns North Korea’s train-launched ballistic missile

Spokesperson calls tests a threat but does not comment on ROK’s successful ballistic missile launch from submarine

The U.S. State Department condemned North Korea’s ballistic missile launches this week, calling them a violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions and a threat to neighboring countries and the international community.

The U.S. issued the criticism in response to two rounds of ballistic missile tests that North Korea conducted on Wednesday. According to DPRK state media, Pyongyang test-launched new train-mounted ballistic missiles for the first time, with at least one missile hitting a target “in the waters 800 kilometers (500 miles) off the east coast.”
