Kim Jong Un skips post-congress photo op for first time amid lengthy absence

Nearly one month out of the public eye, the North Korean leader is on his seventh extended break since 2020

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un appears to have skipped a post-event appearance for a large political congress held in Pyongyang last week, the first time ever he has failed to show up to take a photo with attendees after an event like this, NK News analysis has found.

Kim has not shown his face in public in almost a month, last appearing on May 6 for a photo after an event for military families, according to state media.
