Apparent jet ski activity ramps up near Kim Jong Un’s east coast retreat

Visitors to Wonsan mansion have frequently cited North Korean leader's water sports habits

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un or those around him may have taken to riding jet skis in the waters off his east coast mansion complex this month, according to NK News analysis of satellite imagery.

On June 6 and 13, groups of 10 or more apparent jet skis were visible along with larger boats in medium-resolution Planet Labs imagery moving between Kim’s private beach at Wonsan and Tae Island, located just off the Kalma Peninsula. Kim’s newly refurbished 55-meter-long (180 foot) luxury boat also appeared anchored in the water off the island in images taken on June 9, 12 and 13.
