US secretary of state: It’s ‘up to North Korea’ whether or not talks resume

Pentagon, State Department seek diplomatic options with Pyongyang even as the DPRK continues to rebuff backdoor outreach

Days after the White House announced that its long-awaited North Korea policy review was complete, a top U.S. official on Monday stressed that it is now “up to North Korea” whether the two countries will resume talks.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken delivered the remarks at a joint press conference with his British counterpart in London on Monday, days after a North Korean foreign ministry official warned the U.S. of a “crisis beyond control” and slammed Washington’s new “hostile” DPRK policy.
