Biden on North Korea missile test: ‘If they choose to escalate, we will respond’

The U.S. president also says that diplomacy is an option, but North Korea must first vow to eventually denuclearize

U.S. President Joe Biden vowed to respond to any further North Korean “escalation” on Thursday, hours after Pyongyang test-fired its first ballistic missiles of the new White House administration.

“We’re consulting with our allies, our partners, and there will be responses. If they choose to escalate, we will respond accordingly,” Biden said. “I’m also prepared for some form of diplomacy, but it has to be conditioned upon the end result of denuclearization.”
