After years of tension, Seoul and Tokyo hold talks on North Korean nukes

Washington also took part in the call, which ended in vows for ‘close cooperation’ on ‘North Korea-related challenges’

After being sidelined from North Korea issues for the last few years, a top foreign affairs official from Tokyo jumped on a call with Seoul and Washington on Friday morning to talk “close cooperation” over “North Korea-related challenges.”

Officials from all three countries spoke for roughly 70 minutes and reiterated the importance of denuclearization and the “maintenance of peace and stability” on the Korean Peninsula, according to the U.S. State Department.
