A South Korean citizen accused of illegally bringing North Korean newspapers and books back home after a 2018 visit to Pyongyang was ultimately acquitted, Incheon District Court’s press office confirmed to NK News on Friday.
The criminal trial was held in late August, the court stated, but results were disclosed to journalists on Sept. 4.
The South Korean citizen, reportedly a 42-year-old lawyer, was indicted two years ago for allegedly purchasing four Rodong Sinmun editions and six North Korean books from a Pyongyang gift shop and bringing them into the South without prior government approval.[/p
