No plans to suspend additional joint military exercises: Mattis

U.S. Secretary of Defense says negotiations will be "a long and challenging effort"

Washington has no plans to suspend further joint military drills with South Korea, Secretary of Defense James Mattis said on Tuesday during a press briefing with the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford Jr. at the Pentagon.

The U.S. and South Korea did not conduct the annual Ulchi-Freedom Guardian drills this year, while two Korean marine exchange program exercises were also shelved.
