What a North Korean drone crash reveals about the country’s UAVs

Expert says DPRK technology remains rudimentary

South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense (MND) announced on Wednesday that a drone found crashed earlier this month in South Korea had been sent by the North on May 2 for intelligence purposes, including observing the deployment site for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery.

The briefing, which revealed the findings of an extensive investigation by the South Korean military, went into significant detail about the North Korean drone’s overall capabilities.
