A Personal Plea from Tad Farrell, NK News

Dear Visitor,

I have been running this website since March 2010 and have been very pleased at how the site has grown.  I set the site up due to my strong interest in North Korean affairs and belief that it would be useful for other interested individuals and organizations to have access to a reliable and wide-ranging source of DPRK related news, analysis and other information.  And as many of you may already know, NK News is an entirely voluntary project and is currently 100% self-funded.

From just a handful of members when I established the site back in March 2010, the service has grown in popularity at a surprisingly rapid rate – especially since the death of Kim Jong-il.  Over one thousand people are now signed up the ‘Daily Update’ service, joined by thousands visiting the website directly to access content on a daily basis.  Some recent and exclusive NKnews.org content led to such a surge in traffic that our hosting service temporarily disabled the website due to the strain on its servers.

Several months ago we conducted a survey in which the overwhelming majority of participants voted that the site should continue to be funded by voluntary donations.  Unfortunately, these donations have been few and far between, leaving a major deficit in funding the increased hosting and email subscription costs now being incurred.  Consequently, I am writing to ask for your help.  I would therefore ask that if you find the service useful, to please consider making a donation to help NKnews.org continue running and free.  The more people that can donate, the longer the service can run.

We have set up a Paypal authenticated secure credit card link should you wish to contribute.  Please find the link below.

Thanks,

Tad Farrell (May 2012)
