  • Richard Lawrence

I’d like to mention Tim Beal, formerly of Victoria University, in New Zealand, author of North Korea The Struggle Against American Power (2005) and Crisis in Korea (2011).

  • Manezhnaya

how many of these people have actually worked or visited North Korea outside of Pyongyang. It’s funny how so many “NK” experts have actually never been in Pyongyang or other parts of North Korea.

Looking through the list, I’d hazard about 40% that I know have been to NK for work or touring. The number that actually speak fluent Korean, perhaps a more important proxy, is interestingly a lot less though.
