Volunteer excavators at Korean War massacre site seek govt. support

Investigation team says indifference reflects Seoul government's unwillingness to face past

A team of investigators in South Korea has found additional evidence of a government-sponsored massacre from the Korean War. Now it’s searching for a way to make Seoul pay greater attention.

The Joint Investigation Group, consisting of a number of civic groups, recently spent one week excavating the bodies of massacre victims from the war in the Daejeon Sannae Golryong area of South Chungcheong Province.
