The natural resource industry can play an essential role in establishing energy stability following Korean unification and should be promoted, South Korean geologists gathered at a symposium in Seoul said last week.
“Food, energy and employment are necessary factors to stabilize North Korea after unification,” Rhee Chul-woo, professor of the Chungbuk National University Department of Earth and Science said. “To improve the independent regional growth of North Korea, not to be subordinated to South Korean economy, we should establish a resource industry which can sustain North Korea,” he added.
