N. Korean regime can reform and remain, like Myanmar: senior U.S. official

Russel reiterates U.S. position on dialogue with DPRK

North Korea can reform itself without "regime change", a senior U.S. diplomat said on Wednesday, adding that it should also show its willingness to denuclearize in order to resume dialogue with the United States.

Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Daniel Russel, made the comments during a briefing at the Foreign Press Center in Washington DC, citing Myanmar as an example of peaceful reform.
