North reiterates desire for U.S. talks

Pyongyang teases freeze on nuclear tests, leaves Seoul hanging on proposed inter-Korean meetings

As Seoul waits for an official response to suggested high-level talks, Pyongyang has reiterated its desire to speak with Washington, suggesting discussions over ending its nuclear tests.

The North first made the offer late last week, suggesting the discussions in exchange for temporary suspension of U.S.-ROK military drills. On Tuesday, Pyongyang’s Deputy Ambassador to the UN An Myong Hun told reporters they remained interested in discussions.
