Nearly 170 refugees have come to the U.S. since 2006 law's passage

A North Korean defector entered the United States in April as a refugee, the Washington D.C.-based Voice of America (VOA) reported on May 9, quoting the United States Department of State.

With this latest arrival, there are now four North Korean defectors who have come to the U.S. this year, and a total of 167 have come since 2006. The VOA added that 70-80 percent of defectors to the U.S. are female.
