Meet the people of North Korea’s most outspoken British voice

Criticism of North Korea led to invitation to visit Pyongyang

When he was first elected to the House of Commons in 1979, representing the Liberal Party, David Alton was known as the "baby of the house" because, at the age of 27, he was the youngest Member of Parliament. Now, at 62, David Alton is Baron Alton of Liverpool and a member of the House of Lords. But North Korea watchers better know him for his other role – as Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Committee on North Korea and a passionate campaigner for the rights of the North Korean people.

A week before the United Nations Commission of Inquiry (COI) released their findings about the state of North Korean human rights, NK News spoke to Alton, who the people of the DPRK might one day know as their most outspoken voice in the British Parliament.
